Medical Weight Management

A program centered on individual goals, evaluation, and follow-up.

A closer look

Medical weight management considers health goals, nutrition, activity, and factors that affect weight. Prescription medication may be an option for eligible patients as part of a broader care plan.

How it works & what research shows

Why this route may fit your needs

The route will depend on the selected medication. For a prescribed SQ product, a small-volume injection may fit a regular treatment schedule; benefits and dosing intervals must come from evidence for that specific medicine.

The route must match the prescribed product. Oral options, injection-site risks and your individual health needs are part of the decision.

Mechanism

Mechanisms vary by medicine. GLP-1–based treatments influence appetite and food intake; tirzepatide acts at both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. These are examples for education, not a promise that a particular medicine will be prescribed.

Clinical benefits & evidence

Randomized trials show that selected approved medicines can produce clinically meaningful weight loss alongside lifestyle care. Benefits and suitability differ by product and patient; treatment response is not guaranteed.

Research & unanswered questions

Research extends beyond weight change to long-term maintenance, diabetes prevention, and cardiovascular outcomes. The completed SELECT trial found fewer major cardiovascular events with semaglutide in people with established cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity without diabetes; that result should not be generalized to everyone.

Is this right for you?

An evaluation should review weight-related health conditions, previous approaches, current medicines, and treatment preferences. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.

Your visit

What to expect

Your clinician will explain the recommended treatment, alternatives, and follow-up before you decide whether to proceed.

Before your visit

Personalized preparation instructions will be provided through the patient platform once appointments are available.

After your visit

Treatment-specific aftercare instructions will be provided by the clinical team through the patient platform.

Risks & important considerations

Side effects and reasons to avoid treatment differ by medicine. Discuss the specific product, interactions, monitoring, and how the plan will be reassessed over time.

How we reduce risk

Our approach is outlined below. These measures reduce risk but cannot eliminate it.

  • Match any medicine to its approved indications and individual history, including other medicines, contraindications, and pregnancy considerations. Consider approved products when they meet the clinical need.
  • If an injectable medicine is selected, provide product-specific instruction and confirm that you can demonstrate the prescribed administration correctly. Clarify concentration and measurement rather than relying on ambiguous syringe “units.”
  • Arrange follow-up to review side effects, hydration and nutrition concerns, and treatment response. Adjust or stop treatment when appropriate instead of automatically increasing or renewing it.

Understanding the evidence

Common questions

Can I book this treatment now?

Yes. Every visit starts with a consultation, which you can book online from our patient care page.

Where will I complete my medical forms?

Medical intake, consent forms, and patient records will be handled in a separate patient platform. This website does not collect that information.

Approved by Vitara’s clinicians. This page is general education, not medical advice or a complete risk guide; your clinician will discuss your individual risks and options.
